I am a highly skilled EFT Practitioner, with over 25 years in various fields of general and clinical social work, rural and urban settings, office and home based service provision.
In 1998 I was feeling frustration and compassion for my clients and I prayed, 'there must be a faster way to help people feel better.’ I was for years working with people living from generation to generation, from therapist to therapist, from program to program with no real gains or lasting changes for themselves or for their future generations. In 2006, I was attending a conference for self-hypnosis when the presenter answered an attendee’s question with ‘EFT’ and go to ‘emofree.com.’ Later that same year those words came up again, and by January 2007, I sat for a session to become completely cleared of a nicotine addiction I’d suffered with since my teenaged years.
I own the entire EFT Library and I rely on and reflect on its material as my client's problems relate. I took and passed exams offered by Pat Carrington in 2008, and then passed Gary Craig’s EFT examination in July 2009. I have successfully used EFT with over 247 people since 2007 with impressive results: there was not one situation in which EFT did not make improvement, substantial improvement, for that matter.
Based on my many years in various capacities in human services, my philosophy is that no person is the sum total of anything that has ever happened to them, and no person is ever the sum total of anything they have ever done. I find Emotional Freedom Techniques is a concise learnable intervention that heals people and relationships, brings forgiveness, and works peacefully to help us to accurately perceive Earth as Heaven.
My Professional Background includes:
Helpline volunteer 5 years. Domestic Violence Counselor. Substance Abuse Assessor for Medicaid Pre-Authorizations. Court Screener. District Court Probation Officer. Tribal Court Probation Officer. Children's Foster Care Worker. Child and Family Therapist for Severely Emotional Disturbed Children. Office and Home base experience. Expert testimony experience. Volunteer Youth Mentor. Volunteer Board Member for Youth Assistance Organization.
My successful EFT interventions include:
I have taught or shown EFT to about 300 people or more by using it to eliminate a problem since first learning EFT and have accumulated over 800 hours of practice including office, home base and phone. But I never cease to be amazed at its results. The openness to such techniques have varied considerably, but my experience has been that the higher the number of past therapists without improvement tended to have a person welcome this intervention and to notice its benefits easier. I have also observed persons reject the technique for religious reasons or because of conscious or unconscious secondary gains. A great deal of my experience using EFT came from working with children and families and I am indeed very thankful to them for this experience. I smile, knowing their benefits, I know they feel gratitude in return.
The following is a short list of problems I have successfully addressed using EFT, and for privacy reasons, I will not publish dramatic results. In my opinion, EFT is a cost effective intervention.
Spelling and reading improvement, receptive and expressive language delays with cognitive processing improvement, addictions, including alcohol dependence, excessive fighting and school suspensions, brain injury, an adult, multiple personality or dissociative disorder, an adult, severe trauma with: kids, adults, families, improving family harmony, increasing prosperity, weight loss or eating/food disorder, childhood trauma, adoption/attachment issues, compulsive problems, and various chronic physical health problems improved after addressing the emotional issue using EFT.
I have observed with children, symptoms clear quickly. Younger children are more easily drawn to the tapping, a family's pets calm down while we are all tapping. In family therapy work, no one needs to agree on the the problem or what happened - emotional attachment to beliefs and aspects still be eliminated. I use a warm up EFT process with the family as a beginning family therapy intervention to calm members, bring focus and clear intention. It seems like properly tuning an musical instrument, putting the family and myself in harmony for the unfolding emotional work.
Using Emotional Freedom Techniques after 24 years of urging, cajoling, or 'logic' problem-solving makes me feel great as a therapist. Long before I knew what EFT was, I used to have a marquee across my computer screen at my job that read, 'Annette R. Richards, the best damn social worker this side of the Mississippi because she puts herself out of business...' because this is the reason I went into this field, literally, to create no client base - or at least no chronic client base - to empower people, to give people the tools to manage their own lives, to help people feel better in all ways, and with EFT, therapists of every sort are able to accomplish this goal with their clients. I understand this sounds difficult, one might ask - how are you going to pay the bills with no client base? If people can treat themselves, how will you get paid?? Early doctors didn't bankrupt their patients.
Bottom line, my customers report being satisfied with my service approach and many have mentioned I don't charge enough!
I have carried a bookmark from The Menninger Foundation for over a decade. I want to share it here; the message has constantly served to ground me in my own life and the one I have as a person who helps others for a living. It reads:
