Ten years ago today I learned EFT by applying it to a problem, this is how my teacher wanted me to learn it. I stopped smoking that day, painlessly, without ever having another craving. Basically my EFT Practitioner career was also launched. See, my EFT practitioner had months earlier given a demonstration to a group, and my interest and desire to learn EFT was tagged. I was working with children then, but my then 20 year career in social work was filled with adults suffering from experiences during childhood. I wanted to learn EFT to help kids get back to what kids need to do grow up: PLAY. To each one of you, find your inner child, let go and play. Happy New Year.

Long time no talk, yes, I am still here. I am busy making ends meet working two jobs, one full-time with benefits, and one day a week contract social work. This is my first time doing that type of social work, and started it since March. I have have still been posting monthly EFT groups. I am setting one up for later this month and December. Well was unable to get Ann Adams here for EFT Practitioner training level one and two. I have trained, have her power point for it. I still see clients, mostly Sundays and week day evenings. Looking forward to this election being over with. Praying for a heart filled culture of kindness and support to all.

Wow! I let some time go by! EFT groups are still going monthly. I am employed in a conventional job through the week leaving only weekends for private clients, however, I am making progress in that area so that I probably can schedule a week day afternoon or evening client. Groups still being offered monthly, back to 2 hours for $20.00 and people need to call 3 days ahead so I know how many to expect. In November there's a presentation planned, call for details. No CEUs for it though. I have gone through a few changes in my personal life since 2013 and am now firmly on the integration side. Tapping really helped, so does quiet. Just finished Dancing in the Shadow of the Moon by Machaelle Small Wright; took my time too. I do that when I a book is really good and I worry I will not find another like it. Like her first two Books, Behaving as if the God in All Life Mattered, and Co-Creative Science, it is biographical, and takes the reader deeply into the spirit world. The spirit thread. Took a week last week to camp on the ground with my dog; our goal to listen to heart beat of the Earth. Lying on the ground, or sitting, has always been most peaceful to me. For those who said you'd post a testimonial, I wish you would, that page would be so much more interesting. Be well Visitors. -Annette
Hope everyone had a happy summer. It was cooler here in Michigan. I am back in the EFT Group business starting in September but please check calendar for dates and times, I am shifting away from 2nd Tuesday and second Saturday per month. Please continue to call for EFT Group confirmation. I have taken my email off my website for safety reasons. I phone call is great. Peace. -Annette
No EFT Groups for July and August, taking those months off. EFT Groups can still be rented, however. Happy Summer!!! (Hopefully it will warm up!)
Well, some changes in my life, all good, however they have limited my availability to weekends only. After May, I am thinking I will also eliminate the Tuesday evening group. My great job, which I rely to support myself, has become full time, and I am quite glad. But that means I am really too tired to be an effective practitioner in the evenings. Another change, I plan to not pursue the ACEP certification for the same reason, I don't have the energy, thus, no more free sessions in exchange for video taping the session, but if you really can't afford a session, I will meet with you for free. This just seems to me a more right way to work. Be well, Annette
When groups cancel it is because not enough people registered in time and if there are less than 3, group will be cancelled. If you want email reminders, send me an email saying as much. Thank you!!
I am making a list of people interested in EFT Level One and Level Two Trainings to be offered on consecutive weekends in May or June. These trainings use EFT4PowerPoint developed by EFT Master and AAMET Trainer of Trainers, Ann Adams, LMSW. Certificates of Completion. I will keep the fee at $250.00, covers both trainings. If interested, contact me by calling 248-334-9214 or by email email@example.com. Thanks.
I am working toward a DCEP certification from Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology and I need to satisfy 20 hours of consultation with my ACEP consultant. This involves video recording my work. I am willing to work with clients at no charge in exchange for recording our session. I can assure all efforts will be made to protect confidentiality. I am available weekend and some evenings. Thanks, contact me by calling 248-334-9214.

A few things: First I had trouble accessing my website for updating until today. The calendar dates are in for November, December and January for EFT Groups. Also there are two tentative dates for EFT Practitioner Groups. These are consultation and practice groups for other EFT Practitioners. The fee will $100.00 per participant and promise to help you in your practice. Next, on the topic of working with non-Michigan residents; I understand I would have to contact the Social Work Licensing Board in your State and obtain licensing permissions and have decided I will not be doing that. While I am a very successful EFT Practitioner as well as Social Worker, I would much prefer to help you locate an EFT Practitioner in your area. Using Skype, while it is a free venue, it is not HIPPA compliant. There are secure professional therapeutic Skype type internet venues, however, again, I have a very small practice, enough work for me without getting involved with which is HIPPA compliant. Some EFT Practitioners are also licensed and do accept insurances and perhaps are better able to afford those accommodations. Last, I have been urged to add a page to my website to feature testimonials. I have been informed that 'no one knows what you do' or 'how good you are' - yes I am quite humble, however I am reluctant to use my clients in a such a way. I would appreciate your feedback, and would be willing to post them. Thank you!!!

I was reflecting today about the cost of not using EFT. I used to work with children, I was working with them, and their families, when I learned EFT. For those who agreed to try this strange way of addressing their problems, a whole new world opened up. For those who could not read and were confined to special education, their improved academic performance and emotional and behavioral control opened doors they never dreamed they would have opportunities to explore. In one case, that I know of, college was in her future. That's also a gift to our society. But here's the question, how much less was spent by tax payers to cover special classrooms or psychiatric services or respite supports which were no longer needed? Yes, I did and still do, have quite a gift with EFT, as many of my clients only worked mere hours with me before significant progress was achieved, and most continued to simply apply the techniques independent of me or anyone else. For the social worker here, whose goal has always been to put myself out of business, to empower people, EFT truly was the answer I had been praying for. Consider adding EFT to your tool box today.

EFT Practitioner Training Level One and Two CANCELLED. It will be rescheduled hopefully before the summer has ended. There was not enough participants. I will do a better job at getting the word out!! This is a 3 day intensive training. I am making an effort to keep one the weekend as to not interfere with people's needs to working. It is best for people who are already quite familiar with EFT rather than someone new to the technique. If you want to gain familiarity I can suggest one of my two monthly 3 hour group, practice on line with Brad Yates and others, or locate a local practitioner in your area.

The EFT Practitioner Trainings Level One and Level Two from Wednesday February 20 to Friday February 22, 2013 is now completed. We were successful in getting 24 CEs from The National Association of Social Workers. This training met EFT Practitioner Level One and Two as set by the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques and Founder of EFT Gary Craig's approval/EFT4PowerPoint by Ann Adams, Trainer of Trainers, AAMET. Feedback from participants was positive for Knowledge of Topic, Organization, Ability to Relate Training to Practice, Use of Time, Responsive to Group, with everyone rating from Good to Excellent. Feedback also included better lighting needed, bring speakers for sound. This was a smaller group so I was able to bring Borrowing Benefits DVDs, we also reviewed a bit of the power point for using EFT with Children, and there was good bit of practice time. As of Friday, 7 more EFT Practitioners were available here in Michigan.
The plan for the next EFT Practioner Training Level One and Two is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2013 and Sat and Sunday, June 1 and 2, 2013 from 8am to 5pm each day. The cost will continue to be $250.00 for all three days, and limited to the first 25 registrants. We will again apply for continuing education units, either NASW or MICEC. To register, please send email to email@example.com or call 248-334-9214.

NASW approved application for 8 hours for EFT Level one training and 16 hours level two training, however Michigan Social Work CEs must be applied for through the CEC Collaborative. I want to do this too; see how the money comes in. Having a great New year, hope the same for all of you too!

I am preparing to provide EFT Level one and two trainings in about February I expect in the Oakland County Michigan area. I am interested in being contacted with your interest so I can know what kind of venue to obtain as well as whether the training needs to be two days or three days. I will also be applying for CEUs for social workers. Additionally, I plan also to have special EFT groups available for EFT practitioners to support their skills and knowledge following these trainings. For now, please call me with your questions or ideas.
September 22, 2012:
I just returned from a two day training in Erie, PA given by Dr. Fred Gallo, the person who coined the term 'energy psychology' and the author or many books. The focus of the conference was treating trauma. I learned and practice many inteventions which I look forward to sharing with clients.
Reminder: the next EFT Group is Tuesday October 9, 2012 from 6pm to 9pm; fee is $30.00 and participants must RSVP as space is limited. Thank you, Annette

Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease. In Press.
This study examined the effect of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), a brief exposure therapy combining cognitive and somatic elements, on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychological distress symptoms in veterans receiving mental health services. Veterans meeting the clinical criteria for PTSD were randomized to EFT (n = 30) or standard of care wait list (SOC/WL; n = 29). The EFT intervention consisted of 6 hour-long EFT coaching sessions concurrent with standard care. The SOC/WL and EFT groups were compared pre- and posttest (at 1 month for the SOC/WL group, after 6 sessions for EFT group). EFT subjects had significantly reduced psychological distress (p < .0012) and PTSD symptom levels (p < .0001) posttest. In addition, 90% of the EFT group no longer met PTSD clinical criteria, compared with 4% in SOC/WL. Following the wait period, SOC/WL subjects received EFT. In a within-subjects longitudinal analysis, 60% no longer met PTSD clinical criteria after 3 sessions. This increased to 86% after 6 sessions for the 49 subjects who ultimately received EFT, and remained at 86% at 3-months and 80% at 6-months. The results are consistent with other published reports showing EFTs efficacy at treating PTSD and co-morbid symptoms and its long-term effects.
Keywords: veterans, PTSD, exposure therapy, trauma, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
From linked in, ACEP:
ACEP has received a number of inquiries about this over the last 2 days asking whether it is true that the APA has finally decided that EFT is an evidenced based approach. Unfortunately The APA has NOT stated that EFT is an evidenced-based approach. While someday this will come to pass, this is not that day.
This misperception has come about as a result of a recent news release by EFT Universe about a soon to be published article by Dr. David Feinstein. While the text on the EFT website is technically factual, it is being misunderstood and misperceived.
The exact text that is also on the EFT universe website reads:
The current status of EFT as an "evidence-based" practice is summarized in this statement published in the APA journal Review of General Psychology:
"A literature search identified 50 peer-reviewed papers that report or investigate clinical outcomes following the tapping of acupuncture points to address psychological issues. The 17 randomized controlled trials in this sample were critically evaluated for design quality, leading to the conclusion that they consistently demonstrated strong effect sizes and other positive statistical results that far exceed chance after relatively few treatment sessions. Criteria for evidence-based treatments proposed by Division 12 of the American Psychological Association were also applied and found to be met for a number of conditions, including PTSD." (Feinstein, 2012)
These are the conclusions of Dr. Feinstein, NOT the APA. While ACEP agrees with Dr Feinstein, and we are heartened that this prestigious journal is willing to publish the paper, it is not the same as the APA agreeing. In fact, the APA still maintains its ban on APA approved providers giving CE credit for EFT or other EP approaches.
We strongly encourage people to read Dr Feinstein’s excellent paper. Click here to see the pre-publication version
We encourage people to use his excellent analysis of the current situation. ACEP will certainly be using this new paper in its next attempt to get the APA to end this ban.
The News release also goes on to state:
This milestone of meeting APAs standards, published in an APA journal, marks a tipping point in EFTs credibility. You can now present EFT with confidence as an "evidence-based" practice.
You certainly can have confidence that EFT is supported by evidence. But do NOT think that the APA has approved EFT as an evidenced based approach. While we also agree that the publication of this paper may be a “tipping point”, we have not yet seen the effects of this change.
It is ACEP’s opinion that practitioners who advertise that they do EFT as an “evidence based” therapy are increasing their risk for potential legal troubles. We are not saying that you cannot or should not say this. We are saying that you need to be aware of the jurisdictions and culture in which you practice. You need to assess your tolerance for risk. Then, decide whether you wish to take a more aggressive stance. If you want to take a more conservative stance the term "evidence-supported" may be more appropriate for you. The choice is yours. We just want you to be properly informed.
We are heading in the right direction. It is only a matter of time. It may be that 2012 will go down in history as the year that EFT and EP becomes mainstream. Keep the faith.
